Stop Wasting Lotion and other Bottle Liquids

This is the shower diary, so of course I was fighting getting out the last drops liquids from bottles yesterday.  It was driving me nuts.  Based on the weight, I could tell there was a lot more in the bottle than would come out.  I’ve had this fight many times before, but yesterday it just seemed that all of my potions and lotions were running out – all at the same time.  I drew pictures of contraptions that could fix the problem.  Most lotion tops are the same size (but not all – those $40 bottles are smaller than the $5 bottles of course).

Lotion Saver Lotion Saver 2

So now that I’ve created this new idea, I figured I’d see who else has already come up with a solution… as that is usually the case with my “next big idea”.  So I find this Lotion Dispenser.

So I like my idea better because you don’t have to keep the contraption on the container all the time (you only need to buy one), and while you may use multiple containers for your liquids, they will be much smaller and if you keep to a 3 ounce container you can travel with them.  With the funnel cone, you can use any size container that you’re emptying and you can select what to fill.

You can use mine in the kitchen too.  Get the last of your sauce or other food liquids.  They can be a bit chunky or not (change the funnel).

Found this too from the Container Store.  Still like my idea better as you may want to go from a large container to a smaller one and the couplers don’t necessarily match up.  Also the lighter bottle is on the bottom and you’ll have a balancing act to deal with.

Lost you keys? Where are your glasses? Darn remote!

Okay are you as tired as I am of losing things? Wouldn’t be sooo cool if we had little dots we could glue on our keys, remotes, glasses and other things we are constantly misplacing…

Flavor Packets – Spices

So I’m looking at ways to eat healthier food.  What’s missing for me is FLAVOR.  I’m thinking of whole grains and mixing it up, brown rice, veggies… but what are the best spices to go with my food?  Okay, I know this is bad, but I like Sapporo’s Ichiban japanese style noodles – especially when I can throw in the kitchen sink of veggies and left-overs.  Unfortunately the first two ingredients in the “Soup Base” are Salt and MSG, followed by sugar.  UGG!

Get Your Product to Market

We’re fortunate in Portland, Oregon to have a great program like Get Your Recipe to Market offered at the Climb Center by SBDC (Small Business Development Corporation).

What I’m hoping to find is how to Get My PRODUCT to Market.

Kitchen Supplies Resale Shop

An acquaintance mentioned this idea some time ago, but I was thinking about it again.  It would be really nice to have a shop that is all about kitchen items, mainly plates, utensils, silverware, serving items, cooking wares and tools and items like small appliances like toasters, Vitamix blenders, mixers, etc.   Fads and diets change – so should your kitchen items.  Why store things for a few years waiting for the items to come back into favor when you could trade it in for something you will use.

Lose 5 lbs on a Staycation

So I’m thinking I need to take a vacation – and I need to lose some weight.  Why can’t I combine the two?  I don’t really need to go anywhere to make this happen so I can save money on air travel (the airports are so crazy these days anyway).

It would be nice to learn more about Portland and the things I can do here – for fun and to lose weight.  I could also use a refresher of things I should eat that are more figure friendly.  So I created this Staycation (I wanted to call it a Fat Farm Destination, but who would go?).

Why are washcloths so big?

Really.  I’m trying to just wash my face and this thing is huge.  When it’s wet and you’re over the sink it just gets all over the place.  Maybe I’m just doing it wrong.  Is there a washcloth class?  I think it should be about 1/4 the size so it fits easily in your hand.  Not too stiff, not too flimsy.  If you want to dry your face with a full-sized wash cloth, well fine.  The smaller wash size will take less soap and less space in the washer – eco-friendly!

911 Watch

Earlier this month two older women could have used the help of my latest invention – a 911 watch… created in thought (in the shower) after these two incidents.  There was an attempt to kidnap well-known business local owner for jewels and money.  Thank God this amazing woman – in her eighties mind you – was able to outsmart the evil doers and all ended well for her.  About a week later, a 69-year-old Milwaukie, Ore woman fell in her garage, dislocated her hip, and was stranded for over 18 hours.  She fell just feet away from her phone.  She too was saved – by joggers who heard her screaming for help.  If they were wearing a 911 watch, how would their outcome be different?

Goodwill should upgrade

While the Goodwill stores offer a great service to both those parting with their items and those looking for good deals on previously owed items, I feel you can be doing so much more with their stores. They can offer more career opportunities while bringing the stores into the New Century. With the advent of the Internet and such services like eBay, Yahoo Shopping, Craigslist, and Google Shopping they are missing out on some great opportunities to not only sell more stuff, but also train volunteers, those needing employment, or employees skills needed for the times.

Creating the Shower Diary

Some time in 2009 I thought it might be a good idea to write down some of my ideas – albeit sometimes crazy ideas – and random thoughts – normally sparked by a hot shower, early in the morning – in a journal.
